Daily swimming helps me smooth out my mental wrinkles of concern and despair. That, and sitting for a while in my garden of native flowers and grasses watching the bees, listening to their quiet song makes me realize that the seasons still come and go and the bees continue their work all together for the benefit of the hive ( I know there's a queen, but bear with me here!). I watched a show on PBS about bees and am delighted that I can now identify 7 different kinds of bees. For the most part, they all get along, each with its own mission, humming all the way. Do they get musical earworms?
Both the daily swimming and especially sitting in your garden of native flowers, grasses, and bees on a regular basis sound wonderfully grounding to me, Susan. (Very Mary Oliver!) I can’t help but think if more of us were doing similar things we’d all be in a better place right now.
I by accident looking for something else found an old cassette tape.
“GLORIA” by Gloria Estefan. Years and I mean years ago when I was training for the NYC Marathon. This cassette tape and my Walkman were my morning cheerleaders!
Finding it made me purchase it (digital). I listen while doing my morning walks and to my surprise!
I felt inspired.
ACCIDENTAL REFRAMING
Thank you for twisting the light bulb on top of my head into its socket! Good Substack!
ACCIDENTAL REFRAMING — How perfect! That’s a great song, and I haven’t heard it in years… I think I had the cassette, too… or maybe the CD? (I definitely had a Walkman, but have never attempted a marathon.) I’m gonna go find it on Spotify…
Thank you for including these wonderfully curated pictures! I often find that the picture enhances the point to a deeper level than words alone and you seem to always find wonderful images to reinforce your point. I know it's a lot of work, but it really comes through.
